Pushkin House Music Festival, Chandos CD and BBC In Tune

pushkin house music festival, chandos cd and bbc in tune Dear Friends,

It gives me enormous pleasure to share my latest news with you.

Despite the difficult times we all live in, this week has been particularly busy for me. My latest CD was released by Chandos Records — it is a selection of 22 beautiful songs by Nikolay Medtner sung by soprano Sofia Fomina. Together we were invited by BBC Radio3 to talk about the recording at the prestigious In Tune show. The podcast is available to hear until 26th February.

Most importantly, the Pushkin House Music Festival, of which I am the Artistic Director, will happen again this year. Digitally and without the live audience, that is. The dates are 2-14 March 2021. The programme includes most interesting talks and UK premieres of music by Iosif Genishta (1795-1853) and Nikolay Kapustin (1937-2020). I will be sharing the stage with remarkalbe artists: cellist Ariana Kashefi, violisnit Natalya Lomeiko, violist Yuri Zhislin and members of the Orpheus Sinfonia. An all-festival Pass is available for just £75! Please support the festival by spreading the word about it among your family and friends.

It is my sincere hope to see as many of you in person this year.

Remaining yours truly,

Dr Alexander Karpeyev
Pushkin House Music Curator & Festival Director
